the retrospect employees do seem to take a very abstract view of things. possibly because they do not have to deal with these storms in a physical sense the way we do? like... they are the IT department working on code, while we are the technicians trying to fix a hardware problem.

Maybe he's just not good at drawing people. Drawing cats and humans are two very different things.
if I really asked him to, I'm sure Hinata would do it for me...Izumi, too. but they'll graduate the year after that and then we're right where we started. ugh, this is such a bummer to try to organize! it would be easier if we organized something fun and got people together to see how well we all function...or hopefully function

They probably only did it because it's what's expected when your child doesn't live with you.

Try to put yourself in my shoes. A letter arrives via a large predator bird from someone, someone you never told where you live. This person might tell you the bird can find you on its own, but is it in your best interest to believe that? How can you be sure the person did not follow you home one day?

Besides, if I wanted to know, I could just use my connections at work to do so. Also, you have yet to meet Bronte. He may be a large owl, but he's a very nice owl that is way nicer than my cat. Trying to say something could happen, when it clearly won't is jumping the gun a bit isn't it?
